Anina McGonagill, M.A., LPC-A, NCC
Anina is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, accredited through the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). She is under the supervision of Allie Sauls, MA, LPC-S. Anina has a BA in Psychology from the University of Houston and a baccalaureate in Health and Social Sciences and Nursing degree from Switzerland. She has extensive experience working with survivors of sex trafficking and domestic violence, which has prepared her well to work with individuals with a variety of concerns.
Anina is a dedicated therapist who is deeply committed to helping individuals overcome the challenges of their past in order to embrace the present and live a more fulfilling life. She focuses on understanding the unique experiences of each person, guiding them through the process of healing, and fostering personal growth. She is passionate about helping individuals develop a healthy relationship to self and others, believing that this foundation is key to emotional well-being. She empowers her clients to resolve emotional and psychological barriers, enabling them to move forward with clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose. Through her compassionate and collaborative approach, she helps clients create lasting change and achieve a more meaningful, balanced life.
Anina’s areas of interest include developmental trauma, sexual trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and life transitions. She is also passionate about working with children aged 5 and up, as well as teenagers who are navigating anxiety, depression, and the complexities of their journey to adulthood. She finds great fulfillment in supporting young individuals as they build emotional resilience and develop a strong sense of self during these pivotal stages of life.
Anina was trained in Motivational Interviewing by the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and uses her skills in her work with individuals struggling with substance use disorder.
Anina ascribes to a psychodynamic approach with person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and somatic approaches mixed in.
Anina is a professional member of the American Counseling Association and the Texas Counseling Association. She is a certified member of the National Board of Certified Counselors.
