Julie Summers, Founder/Owner of Heritage Behavioral Health Consultants, M.A., LPC-S

Julie Summers has substantial clinical experience and a wide variety of training in psychology and professional/personal life coaching. In addition, she is certified in Family Mediation, Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), and Sport Psychology. Having obtained a Master of Arts in Psychology from Houston Baptist University, Ms. Summers has been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) for over 34 years, and an LPC-Supervisor for 20 plus years. To date, she has trained and supervised upwards of 45 LPC Associates.

Julie began her private practice in 1987 working predominately with high-risk teens and their families. Having specialized in the areas of family mediation and crisis intervention, she often works with children suffering from depression, anxiety, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and adults who have long-term interpersonal difficulties, particularly those resulting from emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Julie is willing to incorporate faith aspects into her clinical work with clients, and she has often found herself working with clients that desire a faith-based perspective.

Throughout her career, Julie has served on several CISD Teams (Crisis Intervention Stress Debriefing) for First Responders, major corporations, and public high schools in the Houston area. She has served as a consultant with local schools and churches regarding how to handle major losses within their communities. Additionally, she has worked as a facilitator for Resiliency Training with First Responders. Julie is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and often works with clients who need guidance as they process past painful experiences.

In 1996, Julie developed a divorce recovery program entitled, “Divorce Recovery: Rebuilding Your Life from the Inside Out.” Thus, began a 23-year relationship partnering with Second Baptist Church in Houston to journey with thousands facing the devastating effects of divorce.

Julie founded Heritage Behavioral Health Consultants, Inc. in 1997 and has grown the Heritage family to 21 exceptional clinicians with a variety of specialties and areas of expertise bound by similar values and guiding principles. Heritage treats each client as an individual with unique therapeutic needs and customizes treatment to encompass the entire person: mind, body, and spirit. Heritage understands that textbook managed care is not effective for most people and, therefore, aims to find the root of the problem and look for long-term solutions. Ultimately, the goal is meeting the client where they are, learning from where they have been, and empowering them to get where they want to go.

As a personal and professional coach, Ms. Summers works in partnership with individuals who want to live an extraordinary life. She enjoys working with therapists, entrepreneurs, and executives in the development of their careers and personal goals. Julie has served on the board of directors for Crisis Intervention of Houston, as well as the Baylor Bear Foundation.

Outside of counseling work, Ms. Summers develops seminars, consults with school, churches, and businesses, and she is often asked to speak at a local, state, and national level. At the podium, in the counseling office, or anywhere else, Julie experiences life with energy and enthusiasm as she incorporates humor into her honest, practical approach to problem solving.
