Anina McGonagill, Graduate Student Intern

Anina is a graduate student intern completing her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University, accredited through the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). She is under the supervision of Allie Sauls, MA, LPC-S. Anina has a BA in Psychology from the University of Houston and a baccalaureate in Health and Social Sciences and Nursing degree from Switzerland. She has extensive experience working with survivors of sex trafficking and domestic violence, which has prepared her well to work with individuals with a variety of concerns.

Anina is passionate about helping individuals develop a healthy relationship to self and others. Her areas of interest are developmental trauma, sexual trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. Anina also enjoys working with children, ages 5 and up, and teenagers that struggle with anxiety and depression.

Anina was trained in Motivational Interviewing by the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and uses her skills in her work with individuals struggling with substance use disorder.

Anina ascribes to a psychodynamic approach with person-centered therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy mixed in.

Anina also offers therapy in Swiss-German and German.
