McKenna Koy, Graduate Student Intern

McKenna is a graduate intern completing her Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of St. Thomas, accredited through the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). She is under the supervision of Allie Sauls, MA, LPC-S. McKenna graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University Scholars program at Baylor University, where she studied Psychology and Communication.

Having witnessed how therapy can transform the trajectory of one’s life, McKenna has a profound appreciation for therapeutic intervention and values a holistic approach to health and flourishing, one that approaches the mind, body, and soul. She is passionate about the power of connection to effect healing and desires for every person to experience freedom and joy as they continually grow into who they were created to be.

Warm and empathetic, McKenna is drawn toward the biopsychosocial framework and utilizes a client-centered, individualized approach to attend to each client’s underlying thoughts and beliefs. Believing in the inherent value of and capacity for growth in every person, McKenna collaborates with her clients and works with them to find solutions that work uniquely for them. She is passionate about working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, stress, trauma, life transitions, and disability. She sees clients of any age, stage, and background. McKenna can integrate faith into therapy if desired.

On a personal note, McKenna is actively involved in the Houston fitness community and her church. She loves trying new foods, indoor cycling, hiking, cuddling with her dog, singing, watching football and baseball, and spending time with family and friends.
